The Step Up to Writing® Fourth Edition Training of Trainers (TOT) provides a rigorous,
intensive training experience that prepares candidates to train other educators in their
district. Building local training capacity is shown to increase fidelity, sustainability, and
quality of instruction—resulting in increased student achievement.
The TOT will include a review of program components, program sections, assessment framework, implementation options, and online resources. Participants will examine the teacher training sequence and demonstrate understanding of the one- and two-day model.

This session is designed for staff developers, reading/language arts specialists, teachers, and district leaders who have taught and/or supervised Step Up to Writing and who are designated to train staff in their schools or districts. Space
is limited to 25 participants.
Attendees must meet these criteria:
Participants must bring a laptop computer, a Teacher’s Edition, and Assessment and Implementation Guide for any of the grade bands. Attendees will be provided with a Step
Up to Writing Fourth Edition training binder with presentation notes and agendas, as well as electronic copies of training materials.
